On April 24, a group of journalists from APEC member economies visited the Exhibition Hall of Shenzhen Robot Valley and Huaqiangbei, gaining a firsthand look at the city's fast-evolving technology landscape.
"Entering Shenzhen is like a movie, like Back to the Future," said Luki Aulia of Kompas (Indonesia), while Disthan Kornkit of The Better (Thailand) described feeling "overwhelmed," adding he had "never seen so many robots" in his life.
At Robot Valley, leading companies showcased cutting-edge humanoid robots designed for a wide range of real-world scenarios. Reflecting on the scale of innovation, Kornkit noted, "I used to visit robot companies in Beijing, but they don't have as many innovations and products like this."
Some reporters were particularly struck by practical applications. Aulia highlighted a disaster-response robot: "If there's an earthquake and nobody can go inside, that robot can help find victims faster."

In Huaqiangbei, the energy of grassroots entrepreneurship was equally evident. "In every stall there's an entrepreneur who wants to be a big business someday," said Dexter Barro of the Manila Bulletin.

As Shenzhen prepares for the upcoming APEC meetings, Kornkit emphasized the broader context, calling it "a historic and challenging moment for global trade," and expressing hope that the meetings could help shape future economic cooperation.
