On July 24, the 2026 International Wing Chun Competition kicked off in Foshan. It is one of the highest-level Wing Chun competitions in the world. Masters from nearly 30 countries and regions have gathered here. So, what kind of city is Foshan?
It is the hometown of kung fu legends like Bruce Lee, Ip Man and Wong Fei-hung. This time, more than 4,000 competitors are contending here. The youngest is just 3.5 years old, while the oldest is 77. It is a truly all-age competition. The opening ceremony was full of energy. A group of children delivered an impressive Wing Chun performance.
And in Foshan, Wing Chun is not just a competitive sport, it's part of everyday life. Across 124 schools, nearly 200,000 students practice Wing Chun as part of their daily exercise routine. This is what a true "City of Kung Fu" looks like.
