What happens when international city representatives get behind the wheel of a Chinese tractor? For one Argentine guest, the experience came with a potential business opportunity.

During the 2026 World Mayors Dialogue·Luoyang, representatives from more than 10 countries visited YTO Group Corporation, the birthplace of China's first domestically manufactured tractor.

The guests had the chance to test-drive the company's iconic Dongfanghong tractors and get a firsthand look at China's agricultural machinery manufacturing.

Among them was Luis Fernando Lauria, Strategic Planning Advisor for the city of Tigre, Argentina. As a representative of a country with a strong agricultural sector, he was particularly interested in the machinery's potential.

"Do we have tractors back home? Yes. But not ones this big," Lauria said after the test drive.
He added that the Argentine delegation came to China with an interest in importing Chinese products, noting that purchasing this type of agricultural equipment was part of their plan.
The visit offered more than a hands-on experience with Chinese machinery. It also opened a window for potential business cooperation, as international city representatives explored what Chinese manufacturing could offer their home markets.
