On November 9, 2025, the opening ceremony of China's 15th National Games was held in Guangzhou. The delegations of co-hosts Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao made a joint appearance. This marks the first time the three regions have collaboratively organized the event.
As the opening was declared, dazzling fireworks cascaded like a waterfall. Guangzhou's iconic flower — the Kapok — with its petals vividly outlined on everyone's screen.
The Kapok is a tropical tree found in southern China, and known to Chinese people as "mu mian". In 1982, the Kapok flower was chosen as the official city flower of Guangzhou.
