The 2026 Southern China Book Fair opened in Guangzhou on August 27, drawing publishers from around the world. Among them was Kiran Gautam, a Nepalese publisher who had been attending book fairs in China for two decades, including BIBF many times.
This year marks his first visit to the Southern China Book Fair. "The atmosphere here is nice, and it's nice for international participants like us to experience the domestic market of China," Gautam said.
He noted that Chinese readers are looking for new books and innovations. "Now AI is taking over. So now I can see many books with new technologies. There's so much AI involved in the books," he observed.
Gautam also emphasized China's recent wave of innovation. "There's been so much innovation recently, so we are here to learn more about new and advanced technologies from anywhere," he added.
