China and Cambodia cooperate closely to combat cross-border telecom crimes, including the deportation to China for trial of major scammers arrested in Cambodia.
Thach Phanarong, Deputy Director General of Cambodia's Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP), made the remarks in an interview on September 3 at the Guangzhou Sub‑forum of the Asia‑Pacific Media Forum.
He noted scammers have changed tactics and no longer operate in large groups, while Cambodia remains committed to combating online scams. He highlighted China's significant support for Cambodia, particularly in infrastructure development, including roads and bridges, and said he looked forward to further assistance. He also welcomed Chinese media to report from Cambodia.
