"Lightning," a humanoid robot independently developed by Shenzhen-based Honor, clocked 39.45 seconds in the large-size humanoid robot 400-meter event at the 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games on August 23, breaking the men's 400-meter world record. The robot had previously broken the men's 100-meter world record in pre-competition training. Wayde van Niekerk congratulated Honor on social media, and Elon Musk later reposted the video.
Earlier, at the 2026 Beijing E-Town Half Marathon held in April, Honor's "Lightning" took first place in the autonomous navigation category with a net time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds, while Honor's humanoid robots swept the top six spots in the category.
