Colorfully adorned dragon boats set out on the Wujiang River carrying rice wine, ballads, and gifts to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, a tradition dating back more than a thousand years in Shaoguan.
After a series of time-honored rituals, the dragon boats, carrying rice wine, set sail to the opposite bank, with paddlers singing dragon boat ballads and exchanging gifts. It is more than a display of skill, the tradition celebrates and sustains the enduring kinship between communities on both banks of the river.
