The Canton Fair (China Import and Export Fair) fever is sweeping Guangzhou. From metro stations and shopping districts to streets across the city, the fair's signature visuals are building anticipation ahead of the opening of its 140th edition on October 14.
Marking the fair's 70th anniversary, the 140th China Import and Export Fair will run in three phases through November 4. It will bring together more than 32,000 companies across 1.55 million square meters of exhibition space, spanning 54 exhibition sections.
Innovation takes center stage this year. The first phase will showcase industrial automation, smart manufacturing, new energy vehicles and service robots. New exhibition areas will spotlight smart healthcare and design innovation, while a dedicated new-product launch zone will debut at the fair. More than 700 product launch events are planned, up 15 percent from the previous edition. Launches in emerging sectors, including service robotics, smart healthcare and new energy, are expected to rise by around 20 percent.
The fair is also expanding its trade services. For the first time, its trade services section will cover all 10 major categories of producer services, from logistics and research and development to overseas business support and cross-border financing.
Digital tools are set to make sourcing more convenient, too. A new booth-level navigation system will cover all 45 exhibition halls and more than 75,000 booths, while an upgraded tax-refund service will offer a dedicated terminal supporting 15 languages.
