In the third round of the 2026 Guangdong City Football Super League (Yue Chao) on May 16, Yunfu suffered a narrow away defeat to Zhaoqing (1-2), but stole the spotlight with a stunning long-range free-kick from near the halfway line.
Zhaoqing took an early lead in the 7th minute when forward Dong Jiahuang (No.23) headed home to open the scoring.
Yunfu hit back in the 14th minute as Han Jiewen (No.5) fired in a spectacular 50m free-kick from near the halfway line. It was Yunfu's first goal of the season, ending their scoring drought.
However, Zhaoqing restored its lead in the 20th minute as Chen Zhijie (No.21) netted a second goal.
The score remained 2-1 until the final whistle.
