When Zhou Chujie looks back on his journey, he says he has fulfilled three dreams: to master a skill, to stand on the WorldSkills podium, and to pass that skill on to others.
Growing up in a rural town in Foshan, Guangdong Province, Zhou first became fascinated by precision manufacturing during a school visit to a factory. Watching CNC machines transform blocks of metal into finely crafted parts convinced him that this was the path he wanted to follow.
He enrolled at Guangdong Machinery Technician College in 2018 and spent the next four years immersed in training, often practicing from early morning until midnight. In 2022, he represented China in CNC Milling at the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, helping secure China's fourth consecutive Gold in the event.
Two years later, Zhou moved more than 3,000 kilometers north to Changchun, where he now teaches and leads a skills research center.
"I've achieved my three dreams," Zhou said. "Now I want to help others achieve theirs." For Zhou, passing on skills is just as meaningful as mastering them.
