Guangdong's "Jiangmen-made" giant river-sea mobile dock completes maiden delivery

In a significant milestone for maritime engineering, the world's largest river-sea mobile dock, the "Sihang Yongxing", weighing 45,000 tons, has successfully completed its maiden delivery. Crafted in Jiangmen, Guangdong, this colossal vessel recently fulfilled the daunting task of transporting the nation's largest and heaviest offshore wind power installation platform floats from Jiangsu's Tongzhou Bay.

The operation unfolded on April 23rd when the nation's first self-elevating, self-propelled offshore wind power construction platform, the "Ganghang Ping 5", gracefully descended into the waters of Tongzhou Bay. It then navigated back to berth at the Qinshi Jiamei Terminal in Sanjiasha Harbor without a hitch.

The operation marked a pivotal moment when domestic offshore wind power construction technology was seamlessly integrated with advanced equipment manufacturing. Steering this intricate loading and unloading mission was none other than the "Sihang Yongxing".

With a length of 164 meters and a deck area spanning 10,660 square meters, the "Sihang Yongxing" is the world's largest wide, flat-bottomed, shallow-draft semi-submersible barge, capable of plunging to depths of up to 26.8 meters.

Constructed in Jiangmen's shipbuilding hub, this "super sea mobile dock" stands ready to meet the transportation and salvage demands across the world's oceans and rivers. It bridges the gap in coastal regions by offering heavy-duty, shallow-draft barges, enabling operations in ports and river mouths inaccessible to larger vessels.

Jiangmen boasts a rich shipbuilding legacy, dating back to the establishment of the Jiangmen Shipyard in 1954. Since then, Jiangmen has emerged as the second-largest shipbuilding hub in Guangdong Province, trailing only behind Guangzhou.
