Xuelei Fragrance Museum named one of 2026 Guangdong int'l communication best stories

On August 2, Guangdong officially released its 2026 list of top international-communication cases. Among the honorees: the Xuelei Fragrance Museum in Guangzhou, founded by Weng Zhenguo.

Spanning over 7,000 square meters, the museum opened in July 2025 and has since been certified by Guinness World Records as the largest fragrance museum on Earth. In its first year alone, it drew tens of thousands of visitors from home and abroad, all curious about a side of Chinese culture that's often overlooked: fragrance.

While scent is widely associated with Western tradition, Weng and his team have spent years uncovering a much older story, one that stretches back thousands of years, to when ancient Chinese already understood how to use fragrance to bring joy and balance into daily life. Through immersive exhibits blending scent with sound, touch, even taste, the museum brings that history to life for a new generation.
