South empowers int'l community to explore new possibilities in Guangdong: Chairman of PorCham Greater China Board

A multilingual media platform called South, rebranded from GDToday under China's Nanfang Media Group, was officially launched on July 3, aiming to appeal to a wider global readership seeking news from southern China.

At the Readers' Salon, Dário Silva, Chairman of the Board of PorCham Greater China, shared his insights on what he believes will be the most valuable content of the platform and his aspirations for it.

Silva expressed, "I think the most useful news is updates about new legislation that involves foreigners or foreign-invested corporations here." He emphasized the importance of keeping the foreign community informed about regulatory changes that directly impact their businesses and lives in China.

Looking ahead, Silva shared his vision for the platform, stating, "I hope it's the perfect platform for all foreigners." Through this platform, he hopes to foster a sense of community among foreigners and encourage them to discover and seize the opportunities that Guangdong has to offer.

As Guangdong's leading platform for international communication and its primary source for the world to learn about the province, South delivers accurate, timely news and rich audiovisual content in English, Portuguese, French, and other languages, as well as Cantonese.

Rooted in Guangdong Province and deeply engaged with southern China, South also organizes diverse cultural exchange activities, connecting local narratives with global audiences. It now stands as a leading regional hub for international communication in southern China and a key media voice for the Global South.
