At the 2025 Understanding China Conference on December 1, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, George Yeo Yong-Boon, offered a seasoned assessment of China's global role, praising its persistent pursuit of dialogue and peace while candidly addressing the profound challenges of cross-civilizational understanding.
"We need more peacemakers in the world," Yeo stated. "It is good that China has been consistent and persistent in pushing for dialogue, whether in Ukraine or the Middle East, for understanding, and always for peace."
He connected this diplomatic posture to a broader vision, noting China is sharing the benefits of its development with other countries and proposing a global governance initiative to remind all that we have a shared destiny on Earth.
The 2025 Understanding China Conference is being held from November 30 to December 2, welcoming approximately 200 delegates from 72 countries and regions to explore Chinese modernization.
