U.S. and Chinese youths bond through cultural exchange in Guangzhou

On June 22, more than 50 American college students gathered at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) for a cultural exchange program with Chinese peers, joining dialogues on culture, education, and shared futures. The event, themed "Bridging East and West, Youth in Sync," featured panel discussions, group talks, and traditional activities such as martial arts and tai chi.

At the opening, Shen Minghao, Vice President of GDUFS, highlighted the role of youth in China-U.S. relations. He noted that such exchanges are a concrete step under the initiative to bring 50,000 young Americans to China over five years. Students from both countries shared stories of cross-cultural friendship, explored cultural roots, and discussed how artificial intelligence shapes learning and responsibility.

The American delegates visited the university's history museum and practiced tai chi with the local wushu team, experiencing Chinese culture firsthand. The event showed how young people from diverse backgrounds can deepen understanding through mutual learning. It also reflects Guangzhou's vibrancy as an international exchange hub and a welcoming city for youth.
