A new landmark for baseball, the Zhongshan International Baseball and Softball Center, has emerged in Zhongshan, Guangdong. It pioneers a trail for a public-private partnership model in China's professional baseball venues.
This means opening the sector to market participation and bringing in more market forces to speed up the development of an international-standard baseball complex. The complex is now set to host the 2027 WBSC Premier12 Qualifier in November 2026. South Korean, Japanese, and other international residents living in Guangdong also visit the venue for daily sports and recreation. At the same time, the complex serves as a training ground for student baseball as part of the city's broader effort to promote the sport on a large scale among its citizens.
