The 140th China Import and Export Fair, widely known as the Canton Fair, will open in Guangzhou on Oct 15, marking the 70th anniversary of China's largest and longest-running international trade fair.
Launched in 1957 and held twice a year, the Canton Fair has developed into a key platform for China's foreign trade and opening-up. Over seven decades, it has grown from an exhibition area of 9,600 square meters with 1,200 buyers at its inaugural session to an exhibition area of 1.55 million square meters with around 310,000 buyers today.
Running through Nov 4, the landmark 140th session will showcase the evolution of China's manufacturing and the country's expanding links with global markets.
The fair will also introduce its first new-product launch zone and buyers' membership program, underscoring its ongoing efforts to promote innovation and facilitate international trade.
