China's people-centered development model benefits public well-being and offers valuable guidance for the development of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies.
The view was shared by Aminath Namza, chairperson of Public Service Media in the Maldives, during an on-site interview on September 3. She made the remarks after experiencing the Guangzhou Metro Line 18, known as the fastest metro in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as part of the Asia-Pacific Media Forum's city visits.
Namza noted that China's advanced infrastructure, such as high-speed rail, greatly improves people's livelihoods rather than merely serving as a tourist attraction.
She stressed that China is a reliable development partner for the Maldives and other Asian countries, with pragmatic cooperation covering hospital construction and economic investments. She added that China's sound development brings positive benefits to the entire APEC region.
Also during the event, Syeda Lasna Kabir, professor and chairperson of the Department of Public Administration at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, praised Metro Line 18 for its cleanliness, speed and operational efficiency.
She said she hoped to take back best practices and ideas from the forum and share them with relevant stakeholders in Bangladesh, while drawing on China's experience in urban transportation and governance.
