Huizhou's eco-beauty and heritage charm UK

Huizhou's vibrant cultural tapestry and natural wonders took center stage in the UK as the "Protect Turtles and Experience the Beauty of Huizhou" photo exhibition debuted in Doncaster and London on May 23 and 24. The event drew a diverse crowd, including representatives from the British-Chinese community and photography enthusiasts from both countries.

Divided into four captivating themes—"Cityscape," "Green Sea Turtles," "Huizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage," and "Huizhou Paper-Cutting & Farmers' Paintings"—the exhibition offered a rare glimpse into the city's unique cultural allure and ecological achievements.

"Sea turtles are a cultural calling card for Huizhou," noted Li Hai, President of the UK Beijing Association. "Using them as cultural ambassadors not only introduces Huizhou's beauty to British residents and local Chinese communities but also serves as a meaningful reminder of our shared environmental responsibilities."

The exhibition was warmly received by local cultural institutions. Neil McGregor, Collections and Exhibition Officer at Heritage Doncaster, based at the Danum Gallery, expressed his enthusiasm: "It's been absolutely wonderful to welcome this stunning exhibition of Chinese heritage and culture to the museum in Doncaster. I've really enjoyed looking around it so far and seeing all the variety of landscapes, dances, music, and crafts that people make." He added that local visitors would surely enjoy the showcase over its six-week run, which provides a platform to share China's rich cultural heritage.

As the exhibition video warmly proclaims, "Welcome to Huizhou." This event bridges the distance between the UK and southern China, inviting audiences to explore a city where nature and tradition live in perfect harmony.
