Shanwei invites visitors to experience its "good seawater" in person

The coastal city of Shanwei in south China's Guangdong Province has officially embraced "Good Seawater, in Shanwei" as its tourism brand, elevating the phrase to a core policy directive in its government work report. The slogan is designed to unify the city's marine resources, marine ranching, maritime manufacturing, and coastal tourism into an integrated development strategy.

With the second-longest coastline in Guangdong and 881 islands, Shanwei's new branding shifts from simply listing attractions to highlighting a significant natural advantage: the quality of its seawater. Situated where the Pearl River meets the South China Sea, Shanwei's waters benefit from strong currents that ensure high clarity. A shallow, light-colored seabed rich in quartz sand enhances light refraction, creating the "glass sea" effect popular on social media. These conditions not only support aquaculture and water sports but also provide a solid foundation for the "good seawater" label.

The slogan also anchors an expanded visitor experience with "good sea wind, good beaches, good seafood," capitalizing on Shanwei's record of top-ranked air quality in Guangdong and its 150 kilometers of sandy shores. The city aims to connect ecological strengths with economic activity, promoting endeavors like oyster farming and yacht manufacturing alongside beach tourism.

Visitors are invited to experience this unique coastal gem firsthand, whether for its natural beauty, cultural richness, or seasonal festivities.
