On June 24, the launch ceremony for the cultural documentary Yuexiu—The Axis of Legacy was held in Guangzhou. Centered on Yuexiu District, the historic heart of Guangzhou, the film follows the city's traditional central axis to explore its 2,240-year urban history through archaeological discoveries, commercial history, and cultural exchanges, revealing the roots of Guangzhou's enduring commercial and cultural vitality.
Featuring multilingual dubbing and accessible storytelling, the documentary offers a new avenue for the international promotion of Lingnan culture and serves as a compelling example of Guangdong's urban documentaries reaching global audiences.
Director Mo Zhengxi said the team hopes viewers will "understand Guangzhou through Yuexiu," as the district embodies the city's origins, character, and cultural DNA.
To ensure historical accuracy, the production team worked closely with cultural institutions and historians, drawing on archaeological findings, historical archives, and heritage sites to bring Guangzhou's history to life.
The documentary is now available on major domestic and international streaming platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Dailymotion.
