Foreigners taste test: How juicy are Maoming lychees?

On May 20, ten international vloggers explored Gaozhou, Maoming—China's renowned "Lychee Hometown"—delving into the fruit's thousand-year history and rich cultural heritage.

International vloggers visit Maoming's Gaozhou City, known as the "Lychee Hometown of China". 

At the Gongyuan Orchard in Genzi Town, known as the "Lychee Museum," they strolled among ancient lychee trees and learned the Tang Dynasty tale of a lone rider delivering lychees to delight an imperial concubine.

"Unbelievable! I heard lychees from one ancient tree could be worth millions!" exclaimed Georgian vlogger Natia.

Indian vlogger Priyasha Sharma was particularly impressed by Maoming's creative integration of lychee motifs into highway rest stops: "Lychees have become the city's soul—far beyond just agriculture."

The vloggers then experienced lychee picking in Yuanba Village. Priyasha Sharma peeled a fresh lychee and took a bite: "So sweet! The flesh melts like honey!"

"Now whenever I see lychees, I'll remember Maoming's story," Natia added.
