Guangdong "magic" ice cream scoop selling out for Mother's Day

Before Mother's Day, a Shenzhen "magic" ice cream scoop goes viral overseas. A heated ice cream scoop from a Shenzhen-based brand, FrostJoy, has found an audience in Western markets ahead of the holiday. On TikTok, a video demonstrating the product reached 5.6 million views. On Amazon, the scoop sold more than 1,000 units in a single month.

In many Western countries, annual per capita ice cream consumption runs between 10 and 20 litres, and households routinely store large tubs at home. The common problem is that the ice cream freezes rock hard and becomes difficult to scoop. The electric heated scoop activates automatically, gliding through frozen dessert with minimal effort. A mother reported that serving ice cream to her children was no longer a strain on her hands. A bakery owner said the tool reduced serving times. The product's appeal lies in turning a small, everyday frustration into a simple hardware fix—a Guangdong-designed utensil that has quietly entered household kitchens abroad.
