The Asia-Pacific Media Forum will be held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province on September 5 with the theme "Building a Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action."
Charles Stephen Farr, executive director of the Secretariat of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities Alliance (GISCUA), delivered a speech at the forum's Guangzhou sub-forum on September 3. Quoting the story of the Empress of China, a merchant ship that sailed to Guangzhou in the early days of the United States, he said, "It didn't take Americans too long to figure out that they needed to come to China." He noted that Guangzhou's long history along the Maritime Silk Road has shaped the city's open and welcoming character, allowing foreign visitors to experience its unique charm.
