Kenyan writer Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor stressed that the Southern China Book Fair provides an opportunity for Chinese readers to learn about rich literary traditions that exist in Kenya and East Africa.
The remarks were made on August 27 in Guangzhou as Owuor was visiting China for the first time to attend the 2026 Southern China Book Fair.
Owuor hopes exchanges at the book fair will unlock new opportunities. As an organiser of a literary festival in Nairobi, she plans to seek out Chinese writers at the book fair and invite them to her Kenyan event.
Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor will deliver a public presentation and meet fellow writers at the 2026 Southern China Book Fair in subsequent sessions.
