At Tongzi Bay in Maoming, sunrise begins as a thin orange line on the horizon before spreading across the sky, turning fishing boats anchored near shore into silhouettes.
The 17th Guangdong Provincial Games are being held at the newly built Maoming Olympic Sports Center, bringing a packed schedule of athletics, swimming and team events to the coastal city. Maoming's coastline and the new sports complex are close enough for taking in both sea views and sporting action.
