On the evening of December 31, 2025, Mengzhouba Night Market in Wujiang District, Shaoguan, transformed into a lively New Year's Eve venue, drawing over 10,000 residents amid music, food, and lights. The event, featuring cultural performances and interactive experiences, highlighted Wujiang District's efforts to advance rural revitalization and energize the night economy.

At 8 p.m., the "Hello! 2026" New Year's Eve Concert commenced, with songs including Firework and Lugang Town energizing the crowd. As melodies filled the air, audiences sipped warm drinks, enjoyed snacks, and sang along, with laughter and cheers resonating late into the night.


"The opening was as dazzling as fireworks, and the atmosphere this year is incredibly warm," said Mr. Liu, a resident who drove specially to attend the event.

The food market buzzed with dozens of stalls serving barbecue, seafood, beef offal and local snacks, as aromas filled the air and residents chatted over food. The festivities continued with a "National Relay KTV" and interactive giveaways, drawing enthusiastic crowd participation and constant cheers.
Shaoguan-born snooker world champion Zhang Anda also made an appearance, returning home during the offseason and praising the night market's lively atmosphere and delicious barbecue, seafood and desserts.

As night fell, a dazzling dragon-and-phoenix electronic kite show lit up the sky, eliciting gasps from the crowd. At midnight, thousands joined a countdown to welcome the New Year, releasing glowing balloons bearing wishes for family peace and a better year ahead.


As a key night-economy landmark, Wujiang District's New Year's Eve event blends tradition with modern energy, enriching cultural life and boosting consumption. It showcases the results of the High-quality Development Project for Guangdong Counties, Towns and Villages, as Wujiang enters 2026 ready for a new chapter of development.
