The government work report of Guangdong, China's largest provincial economy, was delivered on January 26 at the first plenary meeting of the fifth session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress.
As global economic growth slows and uncertainty mounts, the report offers a revealing snapshot of how China's leading economic province is responding to external pressure — from rising U.S. tariffs to shifting global demand.
In 2025, Guangdong's total goods trade grew 4.4 percent, while trade in services expanded at an even faster pace. Foreign investment has also continued to flow in, with actual utilized foreign capital rising by 11.3%.
This episode of Didi at the Hall explains what's driving these trends — from export diversification to technology-led growth — and what Guangdong's experience may signal about how China is navigating an increasingly uncertain global economy.
