How China is advancing APEC cooperation through Greater Bay Area

Senior officials from APEC economies gathered in Guangzhou, China, from February 1 to 10 for the First Senior Officials' Meeting of APEC China 2026.

As global trade faces headwinds, advancing cooperation and connectivity has emerged as a central focus of the APEC agenda.

During the plenary meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi outlined key tasks for the APEC China Year, including fostering greater connectivity among various regional free trade agreements, gathering momentum toward a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, and promoting the digital, intelligent, and green transitions across APEC economies.

In this episode of Didi at the Hall, reporter Liu Xiaodi reports from the meeting venue, combining on-the-ground observation with interviews from officials and experts to explore how China, as host of APEC 2026, is advancing regional cooperation — and how the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is emerging as a key platform for Asia-Pacific engagement in the year ahead.
