Why innovations concentrate in China's largest provincial economy?

The annual session of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, the key political event in China's largest provincial economy, is being held in Guangzhou from January 26 to 29.

On January 26, the government delivered its work report, highlighting Guangdong's continued dominance in innovation. The province has ranked first in China's regional innovation capacity for nine consecutive years.

Over the past five years, technological advances—from humanoid robots and industrial automation to drones and electric vehicles—have increasingly moved from laboratories into daily life. Today, Guangdong produces around 80% of China's service robots, 40% of its industrial robots, and 90% of its drones.

This episode of Didi at the Hall explores how China's leading economic province is driving innovation and what it means for foreign investors.
