What foreign visitors can expect in Shenzhen during APEC meeting?

The fifth session of the 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress closed in Guangzhou on January 29.

As Shenzhen prepares to host the APEC meetings in November, discussions around the international event have moved firmly into the spotlight at Guangdong's annual political sessions.

During a group discussion of the Shenzhen delegation, deputies discussed a wide range of issues — from the low-altitude economy and intellectual property protection to healthcare legislation. But one topic surfaced repeatedly: how Shenzhen should present itself to the world during APEC.

Deputies stressed the need to integrate citywide resources, expand international cooperation, and showcase not only Shenzhen's technological strengths, but also its experience in social governance.

Some pointed to concrete examples already drawing global attention, including smart governance systems for women and children that have sparked interest among APEC economies.

Beyond policy, deputies also highlighted what foreign visitors may experience on the ground — a city known not just for innovation and business, but increasingly for its food scene, cultural venues, and quality of urban life.
