Zhaoqing High-tech Zone becomes paradise for rare egrets

Flocks of egrets, known as "environmental monitors," have recently settled in Zhaoqing High-tech Zone, transforming Long Lake into a thriving ecological showcase. The birds glide over misty morning waters or forage along lush shores, drawing residents to photograph their poetic interactions with the landscape.

Sensitive to ecosystem changes, the egrets' choice to nest here signals Long Lake's restored biodiversity and improved air and water quality in the Zhaoqing High-tech Zone. Recent upgrades to the 6-kilometer lakeside greenway, featuring native plants and year-round blooms, now offer scenic trails blending water, mountains, and vibrant flora.

Since 2022, Zhaoqing has launched six major green initiatives, including forest conservation, urban-rural integration, and protection of ancient trees. These efforts have turned ecology into an economic asset, with improved green spaces boosting tourism and investment, showcasing a win-win path for sustainable development.
