Guangdong-ASEAN cooperation mechanism exchange conference to be held on July 15 and 16

The 2026 China (Guangdong)-ASEAN Trade Promotion and Supply Chain Cooperation Mechanism Development Coordination and Exchange Conference will be held in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, from July 15 to 16, as announced at a press conference held on July 8.

The event is expected to bring together around 1,000 participants, including 250 overseas guests from ASEAN member states. They include government officials, consular officers based in Guangzhou, heads of international business organizations, and prominent business and overseas Chinese representatives from ASEAN.

On the business cooperation front, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Committee will sign memoranda of understanding with business organizations from ASEAN countries, with the aim of achieving full coverage of cooperation with major business institutions across the region.

In addition, the event will see the official establishment of trade and investment service centers for Guangdong businesses in Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

The event will also release country-specific handbooks for Guangdong enterprises exploring trade and investment opportunities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam, and provide a detailed overview of supply chain cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN in 2026, offering practical guidance for firms expanding overseas.

The exchange will feature multiple dialogue sessions, including a dedicated session on Guangdong-Thailand economic and trade cooperation. Representatives from Thai industrial park operators, industry experts, and leading enterprises will provide authoritative interpretations of local industrial policies, park facilities, and market opportunities.

A project signing ceremony will cover six key areas, including financial services, economic and trade platforms, digital trade, traditional Chinese medicine and health, industrial parks, and regional collaboration.

Another session will focus on Guangdong-ASEAN cooperation in the new energy industry, bringing together cities and regions to present their industrial strengths, resource advantages, and targeted support policies, while releasing new energy investment opportunities and cooperation needs.

In 2025, Guangdong's imports and exports with ASEAN reached 1.53 trillion yuan, a record high, up 5.8 percent year on year and contributing 21.2 percent to the province's overall foreign trade growth.
