CR Guangzhou Group passenger volume surpasses 145m during Spring Festival travel rush, setting new record

On February 22, 2025, the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush officially came to an end. China Railway (CR) Guangzhou Group recorded a total of 145 million passenger arrivals and departures, setting a new record for the Spring Festival travel rush.

During this year's Spring Festival travel rush, China Railway Guangzhou Group sent a total of 75.011 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. The average daily number of passengers sent was 1.875 million.

In Guangdong Province, 47.401 million passengers were transported, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. Guangzhou South Station transported 10.656 million passengers, and Shenzhen North Station transported 7.716 million passengers. During the Spring Festival travel rush, 20 stations, including Shenzhen North and Zhanjiang West Station, repeatedly set new historical records for the number of passengers transported.

A total of 70.079 million passengers arrived, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. Guangzhou and Shenzhen remained popular destinations for travelers, with continuous passenger flow growth for 10 days. Major railway stations in Guangdong Province received 44.29 million passengers, mainly concentrated in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong cross-border high-speed trains saw a surge in passenger flow during the Spring Festival travel rush. A total of 4 million passengers were transported via the trains, a year-on-year increase of 24%. More than 8,400 CHR (China Railway High-speed) trains were operated. The exchanges between residents of Shenzhen and Hong Kong became even closer.

A total of 107 international freight trains were operated, transporting 145,800 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) of goods. The railway group continued to increase the frequency of international freight trains to Europe, Laos, and Central Asia.
