Recently, in a significant boost to the region's aviation and financial sectors, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin successfully completed its first offshore aircraft engine procurement and delivery of 2026 this week.

The delivery, involving a CFM56-7B engine, marks a strategic milestone in integrating industrial needs with innovative financial services within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), signaling a robust start to the new year for the zone's industry-finance integration.
The transaction was spearheaded by Hengqin Jintou International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., which facilitated the procurement of the engine from international markets. The high-tech component was airlifted from Malaysia to Hong Kong before being transported via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to Hengqin.
Following streamlined bonded leasing procedures overseen by local customs, the engine was officially delivered to China Southern Airlines to support its fleet operations.
This project serves as a premier example of how Hengqin's unique regulatory advantages translate into tangible economic results.
Throughout the process, the Financial Development Bureau and Hengqin Customs provided one-stop support, coordinating policy alignment, capital settlement, and bonded supervision. This seamless cooperation across departments ensured that the engine moved through the logistics chain with "Hengqin Speed," overcoming potential hurdles in cross-border regulation and high-value asset handling.
The successful delivery is more than just a commercial success; it serves as a "first shot" for the year, signaling the zone's commitment to serving the real economy through specialized financial instruments. By leveraging the preferential tax and regulatory environment of Hengqin, the project demonstrates how financial leasing can directly support large-scale industrial upgrades in the aviation sector.
Looking ahead, the Hengqin Financial Development Bureau plans to further capitalize on its policy advantages. The zone aims to deepen its expertise in specialized leasing niches, particularly focusing on aircraft and maritime vessels.
