From January 31 to February 4, the Foshan lion dance troupe, organized by the Foshan Foreign Affairs Bureau, traveled to Sheffield, UK, to take part in the city's Spring Festival celebration. They brought the vibrant lion dance performance of Lingnan culture to the British residents and overseas Chinese, celebrating the Chinese New Year together.

Sheffield, located in South Yorkshire, UK, is a key city known for its economy, sports, and technology, boasting a rich multicultural atmosphere. During the Chinese New Year, the city holds an annual Spring Festival Gala, which attracts over ten thousand participants.

At the gala, the Foshan lion dance troupe took to the stage. The lion swiftly jumped onto a high pole, performing a series of high-difficulty moves, as if walking on flat ground, demonstrating powerful and agile movements. The audience erupted in applause and cheers.

After the performance, many British spectators gathered around to take photos with the lion dance troupe. One local child, wearing a small lion head, joined in and began dancing along with the troupe. A British participant remarked, "The lion dance was fantastic! It felt like stepping into a vibrant and powerful Eastern world!"

An overseas Chinese also expressed his warmth and pride for the lion dance of his hometown. He brought his family and friends to the performance, hoping to help the next generation better understand and carry forward Chinese traditional culture.

The climax of the performance was that the lion successfully "picked the lucky lettuce" and presented blessings to the audience, symbolizing good fortune, happiness, and prosperity. (Photo: Foshan Foreign Affairs Bureau)

An official from the Foshan Foreign Affairs Bureau stated that in the future, Foshan will further strengthen exchanges with sister cities and international organizations.
