Recently, a rich variety of wild orchids have entered peak bloom at the Nanwan Castanopsis hystrix Forest Provincial Nature Reserve (广东陆河南万红锥林省级自然保护区), in Luhe County, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. Among the species now in bloom are Bulbophyllum kwangtungense, Arundina graminifolia, Habenaria rhodocheila and Spathoglottis pubescens.
The reserve is home to around 35 species of wild orchids. These orchids have highly specific habitat requirements and can thrive and reproduce only in environments with well-preserved vegetation, a stable climate and minimal human disturbance.
