Denmark's Carl Dreyer Film Festival held in Guangzhou

The Carl Dreyer Film Festival, dedicated to the father of Danish film, recently opened in Guangzhou.

The Royal Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou, in collaboration with the Danish Cultural Centre, presented a century of the film master's brilliance at the Pearl River International Cinema.

This film festival is an important cultural event celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark. It also coincides with the 135th anniversary of the Danish film master's birth.

The event features three classic films selected from his representative works: "The Passion of Joan of Arc," "The Master of the House," and "The Vampire," which have been presented to audiences in South China in early December, showcasing the pinnacle of Nordic film art.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Søren Bindesbøll, Consul General of the Royal Danish Consulate General in Guangzhou, delivered a speech emphasizing the core value of film as a cross-cultural bridge.

He stated that this film festival is one of the significant events celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark, aiming to enable Chinese audiences to gain a deeper understanding of Danish culture and history through film, a universal language.
