Since 2021, Maoming Customs has stationed personnel at Bohe Port to support the development of foreign trade. That year, the MV Huanglong became the first vessel to handle import and export operations at the Maoming Guanggang Wharf in the Bohe New Port Area.
In 2022, the wharf received its first batch of imported grain, ending Maoming's long reliance on other regions for grain imports.
In 2023, a train carrying Australian iron ore departed from Bohe Port Station to Loudi, Hunan Province, marking Maoming's first sea-rail intermodal transport for imported goods.
In 2024, the inbound grain supervision site at the wharf was approved to expand the variety of imported grain.
In 2025, the opening of the East District of the Bohe New Port Area further enhanced logistics capacity, creating new channels for the city's petrochemical industry to import raw materials and export finished products.
Over the past five years, the Bohe New Port Area and Jida Port Area have driven Maoming's hinterland economy, attracting major enterprises such as Donghua Energy, Daodaoquan, and Yihai Kerry. By promoting openness, enhancing logistics, and clustering industries, the city has effectively activated its port-adjacent industries.
Lyu Yuehai, Chief of the Bohe Supervision Section of Maoming Customs, said, "During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Maoming Port has made remarkable progress through joint efforts between customs and local authorities. The number of open berths has continued to grow, with ships arriving and departing more frequently. This year, the port railway also became operational, accelerating the development of a modern logistics system. Looking ahead, the port's logistics services will become more diversified, expanding beyond bulk cargo to include container operations, further enhancing the wharf's overall competitiveness."
