According to statistics from Jiangmen Customs, in the first five months of 2025, Jiangmen's total foreign trade witnessed a year-on-year increase of 6.7%, reaching 80.08 billion yuan, outpacing both the national and provincial averages. Exports totaled 68.65 billion yuan, up 9.9% year-on-year and ranking 4th in Guangdong Province by growth rate, while imports fell to 11.43 billion yuan, down 9.3% from the same period last year.
Both general trade and processing trade continued to grow steadily. In the first five months of this year, Jiangmen's imports and exports through general trade reached 63.2 billion yuan, up 7% year-on-year, accounting for 78.9% of the city's total foreign trade value during this period. Processing trade totaled 16.55 billion yuan, an increase of 6.3%, making up 20.7% of the total trade. Bonded logistics trade declined to 280 million yuan, down 25.7% year-on-year.
Imports and exports by private enterprises experienced rapid growth. In the first five months, private enterprises in Jiangmen saw imports and exports reach 46.25 billion yuan, marking a 12.4% year-on-year increase and accounting for 57.8% of the city's total trade. In comparison, foreign-invested enterprises contributed 33.08 billion yuan with a marginal 0.1% increase, representing 41.3% of the total.
Trade with traditional markets remained resilient, while trade with emerging markets continued to strengthen. In the first five months of 2025, Jiangmen's trade with traditional markets, including the European Union, ASEAN, and China's Hong Kong SAR, reached 11.75 billion yuan, 11.39 billion yuan, and 10.02 billion yuan respectively, marking year-on-year growth of 9%, 12.7%, and 8.5%.
Meanwhile, Jiangmen's trade with emerging markets showed strong momentum, with trade amounting to 9.94 billion yuan with Latin America (up 14.9%), 6.41 billion yuan with 17 countries in the Middle East (up 20.3%), and 6.07 billion yuan with African countries (up 46.1%). Trade with Belt and Road Initiative partner countries totaled 37.97 billion yuan, up 14.5% year-on-year and accounting for 47.4% of the city's total trade. Trade with other RCEP member countries totaled 17.83 billion yuan, up 6% year-on-year, representing 22.3% of the total, while trade with other BRICS member countries totaled 10.7 billion yuan, up 9.5% year-on-year, making up 13.4% of the total.
