The 15th meeting of the Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council was held in Guangzhou on Tuesday, announcing 20 new cooperation projects in areas including technological innovation, education and talent development, biomedicine, financial services, and green energy.
Meng Fanli, governor of Guangdong and the Chinese co-chair of the council, said Guangdong and Singapore have maintained strong exchanges across multiple sectors under the framework of bilateral cooperation.
Guangdong has been Singapore's largest provincial trading partner in China for 36 consecutive years.
Looking ahead, Meng said Guangdong will fully implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries and continue to leverage the council to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, education, healthcare, tourism, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and green development.
Singaporean Co-Chair Ong Ye Kung, Singapore's minister for manpower and minister for health, noted that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.
Over the past decade and a half, the project has evolved from a blueprint into a landmark state-level bilateral initiative in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Ong stated that Guangdong, as the core of the Greater Bay Area, plays a leading role in advancing China's new quality productive forces and high-quality development.
"Singapore attaches great importance to cooperation with Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area and hopes to deepen collaboration in green development, the digital economy, innovation and technology, and biomedicine to unlock more mutually beneficial opportunities."
