A Shenzhen-to-Shenzhen loop line will be launched for the first time since July 1, according to China Railway's new timetable. The timetable indicates that China Railway Guangzhou Group will operate 3,241 passenger trains, an increase of 46, and 162 freight trains, an increase of 12.

The new loop trains D9720/17 and D9718/9 will operate only during peak hours, departing from and returning to Shenzhen North Station. The route will stop at Shenzhen, Huizhou, Chaozhou, Jieyang, Meizhou, and Heyuan, with a total travel time of about 5 hours.

Guangzhou Baiyun Station will take over 54 regular trains that previously operated at Guangzhou Station. Guangzhou East Station will add 12 services to and from Futian. Guangzhou Station will add 68 intercity trains to Shenzhen and 21 more services toward Meizhou, Shantou, and Jieyang. Twenty additional high-speed trains will be added between Shenzhen North and Shantou, Chaoshan, Lufeng, and Shanwei.

Eight round-trip trains will operate hourly between Changsha South and Shenzhen North, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. Additional peak-period services will be added from Shenzhen North (or Guangzhou South) to Zhangjiajie, Shaoyang, and Changsha.

Between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, express trains will depart from Changsha South to the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou area approximately every hour. Travel times from Guangzhou East to Shanghai Hongqiao will be shortened to as fast as 5 hours and 31 minutes, 6 hours and 21 minutes, and 7 hours and 13 minutes, depending on the train.
