
After days of typhoon-triggered downpours, Guangdong is set for another round of heavy rain as strong southerly monsoon flow sweeps across the province. Widespread rainfall is expected in the coming days, and residents are advised to carry umbrellas and monitor weather alerts.

July 30: Heavy rain and rainstorms, with isolated torrential rain, are forecast for western Guangdong and the western Pearl River Delta. Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Shanwei and parts of the eastern Pearl River Delta will see moderate to heavy rain, with isolated rainstorms. Elsewhere, showers and thunderstorms are expected, with localized heavy rain. Highs will reach 31–33°C in Zhanjiang, Heyuan, Meizhou and eastern Guangdong, and 28–30°C across the rest of the province.
July 31: Western Guangdong and the western Pearl River Delta will remain overcast, with heavy rain and isolated rainstorms. Elsewhere, cloudy skies, thunderstorms and localized heavy rain are forecast. Highs will reach 31–33°C in Zhanjiang, Maoming, Heyuan, northern Shaoguan, Meizhou and eastern Guangdong, and 27–30°C in other areas.
Typhoon Dolphin forms over the northwestern Pacific
Typhoon Dolphin, the 13th named storm of the year, formed over the northwestern Pacific Ocean at 2 p.m. on July 27. At 5 a.m. on July 28, its center was about 4,210 kilometers southeast of Tokyo. It is forecast to move westward before turning west-northwest, traveling at 20–25 kilometers per hour while gradually strengthening. The storm is not expected to affect China over the next 5 days.
