Dongguan City has launched its first permanent foreign-related legal service point at the Immigration Affairs Service Center, marking a significant step in enhancing the legal service framework in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Established in October 2024, this facility is the only one in Guangdong province specifically designed to assist expatriates with their legal needs.
Mr. Wang, a Chilean national, praised the service for its efficiency, saying, "I initially came for a visa but found out I needed to notarize my family relationship. The notarization service was conveniently located right next door!"
The service point offers notarization, mediation, arbitration, and legal advice, providing free consultations and various dispute resolution methods for foreign professionals in Dongguan.
Staffed by experienced foreign-related lawyers and notaries on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the service point has introduced a "one-stop" model that includes online appointments and expedited document processing within 24 hours for commonly required services, such as family relationship notarizations and immigration checks.
In addition to in-person services, the facility connects users to various online channels, enhancing accessibility for expatriates.
As the demand for foreign-related services continues to grow, Dongguan is committed to strengthening its legal service framework. The city is building a pool of over 300 specialized foreign-related lawyers and has created a research association focused on these legal issues, which will benefit more than 2,200 local businesses.
Moreover, the Dongguan Lawyers Association has established a foreign-related legal service center to assist enterprises, while the Dongguan Arbitration Commission has set up dedicated windows for cross-border commercial cases, enabling full online processing. A judicial service station has also been formed to directly support over 160 foreign companies.
On June 1, the Dongguan Law Society launched a comprehensive foreign-related legal consulting service station to provide complete legal support for businesses and individuals looking to expand internationally.
