Zheng Qinwen announces withdrawal from tennis event at 15th National Games

On November 12, Zheng Qinwen, the women's singles tennis gold medalist at the Paris Olympic Games, announced her withdrawal from this year's National Games.

On the same day, the men's team final of the tennis event at the 15th National Games was held at the Hengqin International Tennis Center.

Zheng had previously registered for the women's singles and doubles tennis events at the 15th National Games. She served as the flag bearer for the Hubei Provincial Sports Delegation during the opening ceremony, expressing her hope to bring glory to her hometown on the National Games stage.

During her recovery training in Hubei, Zheng Qinwen interacted and exchanged experiences with players from the Hubei tennis team. Several players noted that engaging with Zheng boosted their confidence, and they aim to achieve outstanding results in the competition.

The men's team final featured a contest between the Jiangsu team and the Beijing team. After intense competition, the Beijing team defeated the top-seeded Jiangsu team 2-1, securing the first gold medal of the tennis events.

In the men's team final held in the morning, the Beijing team, led by Shang Juncheng, clinched the gold medal with a 2:1 victory over the Jiangsu team. The Jiangsu team received the silver medal, while the Hong Kong and Guangxi teams shared the bronze medal.

At the award ceremony, the gold medalist Beijing team, silver medalist Jiangsu team, and joint bronze medalists Hong Kong and Guangxi teams all ascended the podium.
