The inauguration of the Greece Teochew Association and the first Greece Teochew Festival will take place in Athens on September 26, bringing Teochew culture, traditional arts and specialty products from Chaozhou, Guangdong, to Greece.
The event will feature the unveiling of Greece's first Teochew association, the opening of a Teochew cuisine restaurant, a Teochew culture seminar and the signing of a series of cooperation agreements.
Visitors can experience Teochew cuisine, Gongfu tea, Teochew music and opera, Yingge dance and traditional arts and crafts. Specialty products from Chaozhou, including household ceramics, clay pots, smart bathroom products and stainless steel goods, will also be showcased in Athens.
The festival will also see the launch of the English edition of Discovering Teochew: The Story of a Chinese Homeland, a reader-friendly introduction to Teochew culture adapted from a column in Nanfang Daily.
The event aims to strengthen cultural ties between Chaozhou and Greece while providing a platform for Chaozhou-based businesses to explore the Southern European market.
