On April 25, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Business Roundtable Conference was held in Zhuhai.
This event focused on constructing robust supply chains for GBA enterprises to expand globally. Around 120 attendees participated, including leaders from 57 member units of the roundtable conference mechanism, representatives from specially invited government agencies, and other distinguished guests.
Chen Xiaofeng, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Committee, stated that the roundtable aimed to explore ways to enhance supply chain collaboration and integration among GBA enterprises, thereby boosting their competitiveness in overseas markets.
Hu Xintian, Deputy Mayor of Zhuhai, noted that the city is advancing the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge as a new trade corridor, striving to establish itself as a key economic and trade hub for the GBA.
Prominent guests shared insights at the roundtable, focusing on "Manufacturing-Driven Services for Enterprise Globalization and Supply Chain Support."
Deng Zhihua, representative of the Hong Kong Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of Lai Fung Holdings, suggested that Hong Kong and the mainland should further strengthen industrial chain alignment. He advocated for opening functional resources, such as the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, to GBA enterprises to help them mitigate legal and compliance risks in overseas markets.
Chung Chi Chung, Director of the Macau Importers and Exporters Association, noted that "Macao has limited logistics resources, but it can develop high value-added digital trade, offshore finance, and arbitration services through the logistics carriers in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin."
"We need to strengthen imports and exports via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge's port to major trading partners such as Japan, ASEAN, and the European Union. In particular, for ASEAN, we aim to provide increasing momentum for the stability of the global industrial chain and the efficient operation of the international trade network," said Zhang Youming, Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhuhai Association for Foreign Economic Cooperation Enterprises.
The conference also released a report on the GBA's exhibition industry development for 2024, indicating that the number of exhibition events in the GBA increased by 1.32% year-on-year, with the total exhibition area exceeding 31 million square meters.
The GBA Business Roundtable Conference was jointly initiated by the CCPIT Guangdong Committee, the Representative Office of the CCPIT in Hong Kong, and the Representative Office of the CCPIT in Macao.
