On July 31, 40 outstanding young talents from leading universities around the world arrived in Zhuhai and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin for a 10-day programme featuring industry visits, practical training, cross-border exchanges and city exploration.

The participants, from universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Macau, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, will explore career opportunities and innovation-driven development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Jointly organised by the authorities of Zhuhai and Hengqin, the programme aims to connect global young talent with the region’s growing innovation ecosystem while supporting the development of key industries. More than 6,000 young people from around the world applied, with 40 outstanding master’s and doctoral students selected based on their academic backgrounds and expertise in fields such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, new energy, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing.

During the programme, participants will visit leading companies, research institutions and innovation platforms in Zhuhai and Hengqin. Through workplace experiences, expert exchanges and industry research, they will gain first-hand insights into the region’s technological innovation and industrial development.

The itinerary also includes visits to Macao, where participants will tour universities, research facilities, enterprises and cultural landmarks, gaining a deeper understanding of collaboration among Zhuhai, Hengqin and Macao within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zhuhai and Hengqin have continued to strengthen their talent support systems to attract and retain young professionals. Zhuhai offers eligible newly recruited talent temporary accommodation and housing support, including rental subsidies for up to 3 years to help ease the burden of living costs.

Hengqin has introduced a range of initiatives to attract global scientists, entrepreneurs and young professionals, providing opportunities for industry engagement, career networking and professional development. It has also established a one-stop talent service system covering housing, healthcare, education, residency services, entrepreneurship support and project matchmaking, creating a more convenient environment for international talents to live and work in the region.
