In midsummer, Zhanjiang is filled with the fragrance of ripening fruit. At the Jiafu Fruit Tree Science and Technology Experimental Farm in Tangzhui Town, Wuchuan, a 45-mu, or 3-hectare, jackfruit germplasm garden is bursting with vitality, with its trees covered with dense leaves and ripe fruits.

The garden is home to 32 core germplasm resources from China and abroad, including Malaysia No. 1, Indonesian red-fleshed jackfruit, and the Haida series. As an important part of Guangdong Province's jackfruit germplasm resource repository, it brings together varieties with distinctive shapes, colors, and flavors, forming a vibrant "world expo" of jackfruit.

Among the collection, the promising line "947," developed through 25 years of selective breeding, is particularly eye-catching. It is known for large fruit, high yield, golden flesh, crisp and sweet taste, and strong adaptability. The research team has also developed Haida No. 1 to No. 4, which have been promoted for cultivation across several southern provinces, offering strong varietal support for the industry's development.

By combining global germplasm resources with local research and innovation, Zhanjiang is turning this living repository into a source of fresh momentum for the high-quality development of China's jackfruit industry.
